In director John Korty hymn to the strength of the human spirit, seeks a recent divorce, his life organizing in San Francisco. Messed with the day job a day, the new single by Zoe Jensen (Michael Learned), according to a local church choir practicing Handel's "Messiah." But the hard training of the choir director Ephraim Adams (John Houseman) pushes Zoe and each member of the choir to their limits during the holiday season.
